Presenting the Youth Group YMRR Modules! The boys were ready to highball! They were at our Show & Swap at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds last April.

The Pikes Peak & Southern Railroad Corporation is a Colorado non-profit organization that produces top-notch exhibits of trains and historic railroading to the delight of the public, our clients, site hosts, and sponsors. Some of our productions may include other module groups, historic music, and theatrical performances. We also support a Pikes Peak area franchise of Youth in Model Railroading.

The PP&S staff produces events for large crowds such and County and State Fairs. Our Specs & Standards will allow only top quality modules to exhibit. We will operate personal, guest, and PP&S train collections using personal, guest, and PP&S owned modules. The PP&S is fully self-sufficient and owns all our equipment and accessories. We currently have 64 linear feet of our own modules with more under construction. We have customized module sections like an inside-outside curve corner module, two full width horseshoe ends, a bridge module, and three dogbone loop ends. We have an RC rail-cam unit, tv, and transmitter. We own a new NCE-DCC Pro-R system with a six amp Magna-Force(R) power supply, three NCE cab04er RC controllers, and one NCE RC Pro-Cab. Our custom built power panel controls and monitors DCC on all three mainlines in pit or dogbone loop arrangements and also allows for basic DC operations in pit or dogbone loop arrangements.

We are managed by our governing board of directors allowing us to make quick decisions on rules, spending, and business matters. Our bylaws determine duties, elections, rotations, and replacements. Our officers and BOD are the only permanent PP&S members. But our regulars are listed on our Senior Engineers roster and have priority when staffing an event. There will be no regular membership roster or dues at this time.

We filed paperwork in May 2007 with the Colorado Secretary of State's office making us a non-profit corporation. In the future we will upgrade to a 501(c)3. We are not an NMRA division. The PP&S is an NMRA certified 100% membership organization and all participants must be current NMRA members to be covered by the NMRA member insurance requirement. .

The current pool of HO modules in Denver, Colo. Springs, and Pueblo will soon be compatable. We are working on project “Joint Line" which will allow us to exhibit with other module groups or them with us. We are currently working with Colorado RailLink.

The present address for the corporation shall be:

Pikes Peak & Southern Railroad Corporation.

Local Youth in Model Railroading Chapter

  • We are supporting model railroading’s future in a Colorado Springs area Youth in Model Railroading division (called The Pikes Peak Division of YMRR) under the national YMRR organization. Under the direction of Gerald Drewes, our board member in charge, he mentors, develops, and supports a youth modular railroad group. They now have 20+ kids and the number is growing. They currently have about eight straight modules and four corners operational. They will meet at the Immanuel Lutheran Church School every third Saturday for workshops. (Call or email in advance.) Operate on Sponsor and Non-Profit Funding

  • Through funding from sponsors, advertising, swapmeets, and future 501(c)3 will provide the revenue needed for maintenance, equipment, and our out of town travel expenses.

Conduct Modeling Railroading Clinics and Workshops

  • Conduct how-2 clinics in model railroading techniques and methodologies for our YMRR division and for the public at our swapmeets and other exhibit appearances.

Produce Historical Railroading Reenactments, Music, and Melodrama Skits

  • With the assistance of groups like "The Mile High Banjo Society", "The Gibbons Gang", "The Rolling Stock Company", “Red Herring Productions”, "The Ice Cream Social", and others, host (or perform in) historical railroading reenactments. We will have vocal or instrumental musicians perform historical railroad music at selected exhibit appearances.
